Where have I been

Well, sometimes life gets in the way of doing things. This is what happened to me over the past couple of weeks. I was asked to run audio for a high school performance of The Wizard of Oz. Despite it being a HS performance it was actually quite good and very well attended. The school is a class C school and there were around 500 people there for each of the 3 nights of performances. From what I understand this is more than went to all of the football games last season.

So on this board here we went from a 5 mic production to a 12 mic production in 2 nights. It is amazing what can happen when people see microphones and suddenly get very quite on their lines. And no we didn't run the levels that high, I was just marking which channels had done a sound check with me before we started rehearsal that night.

Rehearsals for this performance were Monday - Thursday for the week before the show they started at 7:00 and were finished around 10. Then since we were in the gym since the school doesn't have an auditorium we had to tear down every night except for the performance nights. So a ton of work and a great show. I am glad it is done.

I love the sound of the rain in the trees. I am just sitting here on the couch surfing the web in the pouring down rain. It is soo cool to look out the window and realize that for the first time in my 25 yrs that these are our trees. Not our landlords, not my parents, Precia and Me, our trees. The sound is very soothing, more so than staring at a computer screen but what else is a geek like me going to do at 8:00 on a Thursday night. Joe came over tonight so we had brats, we were going to cook them on the grill but then it started pouring down rain, and I didn't really want to roll out the awning as it was getting windy too. So we came back inside and cooked the on the Foreman grill, just as good but not near as fun. We chatted a bit about life in general watched some movie trailers. It was fun. Now I am just waiting for Precia, she should be home soon, she had to play at Graduation today for some kids that will be singing. I hope she is having a good time. Until then, mor
I am in Denver this week, check out my flickr page for some pics. I am attending the 14th Annual IUG conference for Innovative Interfaces , this is the company that provides the software that runs the library where I work. While here I have heard a lot of talk about bringing the library into the Web 2.0 setting and have found most of it very interesting. There are a ton of great sources and good people behind this push in the IUG, it has renewed my interest in the web and development. So in that vein I am going to try again at keeping this blog rolling with a post at a bare minimum once per week. In fact I am going to schedule it into my calendar. I may even try to get a domain for it so that will be some more incentive for me to update regularly.
